A Retrospective of WEA Tutors/Artists

10 November – 1 December 2013

WEA is celebrating 100 years of tutoring in 2013. Realising the importance of art in our Society, and the fact that many of the Art Tutors have or still are Fellow Members of the Royal SA Society of Arts, e.g. Ruth Tuck, Mervyn Smith, Jacqueline Hick, Wladyslaw Dutkiewicz, Brian Seidel, John Baily, David Dridan, Malcolm Carbins, Charles Bannon, Gary Lee Gaston, Marjorie Hann, Sue Georgiou, John Patchett, Betty Jew, Ivor Francis, to name a few, all well known artists of South Australia, and all who have taught art at WEA. Their styles, art classes will be remembered by many and acknowledged they were taught well.

A stunning array of artists, in an amazing gallery that most have instilled the quality of art over the years. Some artworks are for sale, and others to be admired for the skill of the artist.

To be opened by Professor Jack Cross OAM, 2.00pm Sunday 10th November. Jack has recently launched the History of WEA, of which books will be available for sale in the RSASA Gallery during the exhibition.

Lidia lived in London from 1958 – 1965, where she married Tadeusz (Tadek) Groblicki. They migrated and settled in Adelaide. The subject matter of Lidia’s work has been a relationship with suburbia and rural life in Poland. “She observed her surroundings and explored themes such as the power of big business, the impact of technology on modern life, and the conformities of urban living and religion…”( excerpt from Lidia Groblicka suburban Iconographer by Adam Dutkiewicz)

Lidia was a renown artist, RSASA Fellow & Life Member, on RSASA Council, Selection & Exhibition Committees and is represented as an international artist, printmaker, with works overseas,  Australian National Gallery, Art Gallery of SA, RSASA Collection and private collections.

This exhibition represents her life through her art. Many artworks are from private collections, and some prints are for sale.
