The Kennedy Arts Foundation presents the Kennedy Prize, an annual Australian arts award of $25,000. The prize is based and exhibited in Adelaide but open to Australian artists nationwide, and is awarded to works that embody, comment on or celebrate the theme of beauty.

The prize is open to Australian artists, with the sole category of painting for 2018.

Emerging artists are especially encouraged to apply.

The prize is designed to showcase emerging and previously un-exhibited artists alongside established Australian luminaries.

The winning artist will receive $25,000, and their artwork will be acquired by the Kennedy Arts Foundation, and at its absolute discretion, auctioned at the next year’s Kennedy Prize exhibition.

The Foundation’s Choice, showcases work chosen by the foundation members.

A People’s Choice Award will also be awarded to the audience’s preferred entrant. Voting is conducted at the exhibition and only the finalists are eligIble for the People’s Choice Award. Please see the terms and conditions for full details.

All artworks, except the Prize Winner, from the final selection will be available for sale during the exhibition.

The Kennedy Prize is open to all Australian Citizens, residing in Australia.

Entry fee is $40, and is limited to one per artist, with South Australian based artists allowed two entries submitting the fee each time. Entries close 6th August 2018.

Exhibition Location: Royal South Australian Society of Arts, Level One, corner North Terrace & Kintore Avenue, Adelaide SA

Exhibition Dates: Sunday 9th September to Sunday, 23rd September

Entry Form Instructions

Works must engage with the theme of Beauty.

All Australian Citizens, residing in Australia are eligible to enter. See the terms and conditions for full details.

South Australian artists can enter two works, submitting the entry fee each time.

Entrants must be over the age of 18 by the Entry Closing Date.

Please upload three digital images of the Art Work, including one complete view of the work and at least one detail view of the work to show materials used.

Dimensions extended to accept artworks up to 3m high OR 2m wide. This is more to accommodate works that are rectangular, please contact us with dimensions, if over 1.6m, before entering.

Entry fee is $40

Up to 50 works will be selected to exhibit as finalists.

Selected works will be exhibited at Royal South Australian Society of Arts, Level One, corner North Terrace & Kintore Avenue, Adelaide SA.

Only works selected for the exhibition will need to be sent to our receiving space at the Royal South Australian Society of Arts, Level One, corner North Terrace & Kintore Avenue, Adelaide SA.

RSASA/SALA PORTRAIT PRIZE WINNERS

First Prize: $10,000 Kennedy Arts Foundation Acquisitive Prize
Kristone Capistrano for The Philosopher, charcoal drawing, 200 x 131 cm

Kristone is an artist, writer, educator, visual arts teacher kristonecapistrano.com. He was a Franciscan monk at one stage in New York and is a teacher with NSW Catholic Education.

The purpose of this exhibition is to give South Australia Artists their own Portrait Prize, encouraging artists to think beyond the realms of the human face.

The second exhibition was held two years ago and provided highly successful within 324 entries.

This exhibition was held in the magnificent RSASA Gallery and a number of pop-up venues, hosted by the RSASA/SALA.
