Sylvia Preston

I have conducted weekly classes in watercolour, pastel and oil.

In these classes, students were encouraged to develop their own style together with the study and influences of other painters.

Since retiring my husband and I have travelled extensively, enjoying the beauty and wonder of the world. From painting by the Grand Canal in Venice to the awe inspiring glaciers of South America.

I have been invited to conduct workshops and demonstrations in the metropolitan area including Marion Art Group, Pastel Society of South Australia, Salisbury Art Group, Adelaide Art Society and Royal South Australian Society of Arts.

I have been also involved in country workshops including North Yorke Peninsula Art Group, Minlaton Art Group and Burra Art Group.

In the past, I organised and led groups of students on weekly and weekend painting getaways.  The students in these groups were given the opportunity for in depth tuition in plein-air work under varied atmospheric conditions.  Those getaways included Kangaroo Island, Southern Flinders Ranges, Goolwa the Fleurieu Peninsula and Second Valley.

Commissions are considered in all mediums.  Word of mouth keeps me very busy, especially capturing people’s pets.

My work is in numerous private collections in South Australia, interstate and overseas.
